Many people believe that female dogs make better pets as opposed to males. Keep in mind that in the dog pack makeup, females usually rule the roost and determine the pecking order.\u00a0 The females, as a result, are more independent, stubborn, and territorial than their male counterparts.\u00a0 Most fights will usually break out between 2 females.\u00a0 Males on the other hand can be more affectionate, attentive, and even demanding of attention. Despite this information being true in most cases, the nature of our Basset Hound, that we breed and raise is the perfect combination for anyone!\u00a0 They are all very attached to their people\/family.\u00a0 They also tend to be more steadfast, reliable, and constant companions.\u00a0 But both males and females can be outgoing, accepting of other pets when properly introduced, and are quick to take to children.\u00a0 Most boys are easily motivated by food and praise and are very eager to please.\u00a0 However, males can be more easily distracted during training because they like to play.\u00a0 No mater what age he is more likely to act silly and be more puppy like than the female.\u00a0 Boys are fun loving until the day they die.\u00a0 Girls tend to be more reserved or dignified as they age.<\/p>

Males do tend to get a little larger than females.\u00a0 Neutered males rarely exhibit the behavior of marking or humping.\u00a0 Once the testosterone level recedes, after neutering, most of these behaviors will disappear.\u00a0 Males\u00a0 who are neutered early (by 5 months of age) usually don\u2019t ever raise their leg to urinate.<\/p>

Females will usually come to you for attention but when she has had enough she will move away.\u00a0 Males\u00a0 are always waiting for your attention and are near at hand.<\/p>

Before deciding on male or female give careful thought to other animals and people in your home.\u00a0 A female usually only bonds with one person (generally the main caregiver) and a male tends to bond with the whole family.\u00a0 If you already have a dog in your family it is usually best to purchase a puppy of the opposite sex, for a second dog.\u00a0 Having said that, two neutered males will generally get along well with each other.\u00a0 Two spayed females can be \u201ciffy\u201d!<\/p>

    If something should happen to your puppy when you have a deposit placed on it, we would let you pick another available puppy or you can use it to reserve a future puppy on an upcoming litter. Otherwise, you would simply have your deposit refunded. If however, you default or cancel and never pick up your puppy, your deposit will then be used to help locate a new home for the puppy. (We do our best to contact you numerous times as well as give a two week grace period of not hearing from you before we conclude that you have abandoned your puppy.
